Tvrtka je od po\u010detka uzela svoj udio na polju elektrodistribucije, rasvjete i energetike, zatim na polju radija, televizije i ra\u010dunala, te na polju proizvodnje elektri\u010dne energije. General Electric je realizirao mnoge akvizicije i prodaje raznih interesnih tvrtki uglavnom s podru\u010dja energetike, industrije nafte i plina te televizijskih i filmskih medija. Vjerojatno je nemogu\u0107e nabrojati sva podru\u010dja industrije i energetike u kojima je General Electric imao ili ima svoje interese. Tako\u0111er, skala je i lako izmjenjiva pa se uz upotrebu odre\u0111enih shuntova mogu dobiti i drugi rasponi mjerenja. Mo\u017ee se primijetiti kako je skala sastavljena od dvije plo\u010dice. Na donjoj plo\u010dici je ispisana vrijednost samo za minimalni (nula) i maksimalni otklon skale, a na gornjoj plo\u010dici su ispisane ostale vrijednosti. Ovo je vjerojatno napravljeno zato da se isti tip ku\u0107i\u0161ta lak\u0161e prilagodi mjernim sistemima koji nemaju linearnu mjernu skalu. Mjerne skalne su ispisane na papiru i zalijepljene na mesingane plo\u010dice. Ako se umjesto linearnog instrumenta sa zakretnim svitkom ovdje ugradi primjerice instrument sa pomi\u010dnim \u017eeljezom koji ima nelinearnu skalu, onda je dovoljno izraditi i zalijepiti samo gornji dio skale. Sasvim sigurno da su se ova ista ku\u0107i\u0161ta instrumenta koristila za ugradnju razli\u010ditih istosmjernih i izmjeni\u010dnih voltmetara i ampermetara. Ponekad se ovdje mogu na\u0107i i datumske oznake, no ovdje to nije slu\u010daj.<\/span> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>General Electric je proizvodio veliki broj pogonskih ampermetara i voltmetara za ugradnju na panele koji se baziraju na vrlo sli\u010dnom dizajnu. Oznaka patenta na slali instrumenta datira iz 1927. godine, no ovakvi instrumenti su se vjerojatno proizvodili dvadesetak godina, mogu\u0107e i vi\u0161e. Danas je te\u0161ko odrediti godinu proizvodnje odre\u0111enog primjerka, a s obzirom na oznaku patenta i specifi\u010dnosti same konstrukcije ovakvi instrumenti bi mogli potjecati iz razdoblja od 1930-tih do 1950-tih godina.<\/p>\n<p>Na\u0161 primjerak ampermetra je bez mjernih stezaljki i bez strujnog shunta \u0161to zna\u010di da se netko ve\u0107 bavio popravkom ili preinakom ovog instrumenta. Naveden je i standardni podatak za dozvoljeni otpor poveznih vodova od 0,065 \u2126 kojim se mjerni instrument povezuje sa shuntom. Tako\u0111er, na armaturi instrumenta sa zakretnim svitkom ispisan je FSD od 17,5 mA. FSD (full scale deflection) je struja na kojoj kazaljka instrumenta posti\u017ee maksimalni otklon.<\/p>\n<p>Shunt za na\u0161 instrument na struji od 80 A stvara pad napona od 50 mV koji onda mjeri instrument sa zakretnim svitkom. Mjerenjem smo potvrdili da je FSD jo\u0161 uvijek 17,5 mA no isti se posti\u017ee ve\u0107 na naponu od 35 mV. To zna\u010di da je instrument osjetljiviji nego bi trebalo.<\/p>\n<p>Mjerenjem smo na\u0161li da je ukupni otpor mjernog kruga 1,12 \u2126. Glede toga, treba re\u0107i da se svitak instrumenta sa zakretnim svitkom gotovo nikad ne shuntira izravno. Naime, otpor bakrenog svitaka instrumenta je dosta ovisan i temperaturi, tako da kod malih struja temperaturna promjena otpora svitka mo\u017ee znatno utjecati na FSD. Zato se svitku serijski dodaje kompenzacijski otpornik. To mo\u017ee biti otpornik znatno ve\u0107eg otpora od otpora svitka i vrlo malog temperaturnog koeficijenta tako da je promjena zajedni\u010dkog otpora kompenzacijskog otpornika i svitka uslijed promjene temperature prakti\u010dno zanemariva. Me\u0111utim, dodatkom velikog otpora smanjuje se osjetljivost mjernog sistema. Me\u0111utim, vjerojatno je u originalu postojao jo\u0161 neki kompenzacijski ili kalibracijski otpornik kojim se ukupni otpor, odnosno osjetljivost mjernog sistema podesila tako da se FSD postigne na naponu od to\u010dno 50 mV. Metalna ku\u0107i\u0161ta i monta\u017eni elementi mogu podnijeti puno mehani\u010dkih, toplinskih, vibracijskih i sli\u010dnih vanjskih utjecaja. Me\u0111utim, ukoliko se mora vr\u0161iti popravak, preinaka i op\u0107enito rastavljanje ovih instrumenta onda je svejedno potrebna stru\u010dnost i izrazita pa\u017enja u rukovanju. Isti sadr\u017ee mehani\u010dki i elektri\u010dni osjetljive dijelove koji se nepa\u017enjom lako o\u0161tete.
