Brailleovo pismo dobilo je naziv po francuzu Louisu Brailleu koji je 1824. godine osmislio prakti\u010dno pismo za slijepe i slabovidne osobe koje se \u010dita dodirom izdignutih to\u010dkica. Sustav se sastoji od 6 to\u010dkica poredanih po dvije vodoravno i po tri okomito. Koriste\u0107i razli\u010diti broj to\u010dkica u razli\u010ditom poretku, formiraju se 63 kombinacije koje predstavljaju slova, brojke, te druge simbole. Na samom stroju nalazimo poveznice na tri slavna imena koja su obilje\u017eila povijest pisma za slijepe: \u00a0Samuel Gridley Howe (Howe Press), Thomas Handasyd Perkins (Perkins School for the Blind) i David Abraham. Ima \u0161est tipki gdje svaka predstavlja jednu to\u010dkicu Brailleove abecede. Osim toga tu su jo\u0161 samo tri tipke: razmaknica, tipka na novi red i tipka za povratak jedan znak unatrag. Tako\u0111er vidimo raspored to\u010dkica za osnovna slova abecede. \u0160to se ti\u010de drugih specijalnih slova, brojeva i znakova, s obzirom na mali broj kombinacija simbola (63 + prazno polje ili razmak) koje mo\u017eemo dobiti sa \u0161est to\u010dkica isti se znak u razli\u010ditim jezicima ili notacijama \u010dita druk\u010dije. Tako\u0111er postoji i ra\u010dunalno (kompjutorsko) Brailleovo pismo koje \u010dine kombinacije od osam to\u010daka \u010dime se, kao i na ra\u010dunalu, dobije ukupno 256 razli\u010ditih znakova. Brailleovo pismo kao i ovaj na\u0161 pisa\u0107i stroj detaljno su opisani na mnogobrojnim internetskim stranicama pa se mi ovdje vi\u0161e ne\u0107emo baviti daljnim izu\u010davanjem ove problematike. Kod na\u0161eg primjerka nije radio mehanizam pomicanja glave za jedan znak unaprijed nakon svakog ispisa znaka, a to smo jednostavno rije\u0161ili pritezanjem jednog vijka koji dr\u017ei mehanizam zapinjanja za nazubljenu letvu (na slici gore izgleda poput pile). Iako se na dijelovima mehanizma stroja ve\u0107 nagomilalo prili\u010dno pra\u0161ine zbog dugog vremena neodr\u017eavnja, isti i dalje radi glatko i bez gre\u0161ke. Svaka \u010dast\u00a0Davidu Abrahamu na ovoj konstrukciji.<\/p>\n<p>Moderni elektroni\u010dki pisa\u0107i strojevi za slijepe koriste isti princip tipkanja kao i ovaj mehani\u010dki, a mo\u017ee im biti dodana i glasovna sinteza. Tako\u0111er postoje opti\u010dki \u010dita\u010di koji mogu tekst sa monitora (ili drugog izvora) prevesti u Brailleovo pismo za ispis. Tu su i programi koji &#8220;\u010ditaju&#8221; digitalni tekst odnosno pretvaraju ga u glas preko zvu\u010dne kartice. Tehnologija u napredovanju svakako poku\u0161ava \u0161to je mogu\u0107e vi\u0161e pomo\u0107i i slijepim osobama ne samo da ostvare \u0161to kvalitetniji pristup u dana\u0161nje nebrojene pisane (i slikovne) sadr\u017eaje ve\u0107 da mogu s lako\u0107om i stvarati iste. Iskreno se nadam da \u0107e tehnologija i ekonomija u \u0161to kra\u0107em vremenu barem toliko napredovati da svaka slijepa osoba mo\u017ee lako i jeftino (\u010dak i u na\u0161oj zemlji) nabaviti ra\u010dunalo prilago\u0111eno njenoj potrebi.
